Aiyoh, you all saw the news lately right? That one super paiseh (embarrassing) case where this Indian national guy go drink too much or what, then hands itchy go molest the poor SIA stewardess
When the news hit the headlines, the internet went full-on toxic mode. Everyone online starting keyboard warrior-ing, blasting left, right, and center, making it sound like the whole country is like that.
But wait, don’t throw your kopi cup yet! Fast forward to July 3, on flight SQ508 from SG to Bengaluru.
Enter our hero of the day: Sharad Govil, a big-shot audiologist who runs a clinic at Novena Specialist Centre. He was flying with his wife, Aditi, probably just trying to look forward to a nice, peaceful flight.
But inside his heart, he was feeling super dulan (annoyed) and heavy about the whole molest saga. He said it himself: he was angry because the poor victim got traumatized, and sad because one bad apple go rot the entire basket, shaming the whole community.
So what did this legend do? Instead of just sitting down, ordering a Tiger beer, and stone-ing into space, he decided to fight toxic internet comments with absolute class.
After the meal service was cleared—you know that quiet time on the plane when everybody is digesting their chicken rice or braised beef—Sharad pulled out a special card. Not just any cheap paper from the printer, okay? It was a beautiful card painted by the Mouth and Foot Painting Artists (MFPA) Singapore.
He sits down and writes a long, beautiful, handwritten love letter (the platonic kind, don’t catch no feelings) to the SIA cabin crew.
The note basically said:
“SIA, I wanted to thank you for your exceptional service. We were deeply saddened by the recent news of misconduct… The actions of some do not represent us. We highly respect you. Please accept our apologies on behalf of India.”
Wah lau, talk about class! He literally carried the weight of the apology on his own shoulders just to make the crew feel safe and appreciated.
When he passed it to the crew, the reaction was pure gold. You think they just say “Oh, thank you, sir” and walk away? No architecture!
The crew was so deeply moved, it became an emotional chain reaction. One by one, every single crew member in that section walked up to his seat individually just to say thank you.
Then, the Lead Steward (the big boss of the cabin) basically said, “Guys, drop everything, we need a photo with this absolute king.”
They gathered the whole squad, uniform all neat-neat, smiles wide-wide, and took a beautiful group photo together.
Sharad later admitted he actually didn’t want to post it on social media because he’s not those “look at me doing good deeds” kind of influencer.
But after seeing so much online garbage and racism flying around, he felt it was important to show the world that hey, good people still exist, and we shouldn’t judge a whole village by its worst idiot.
Honestly, preach, brother! If we start judging entire countries based on their worst black sheep, nobody can step out of the house already.
So next time you drink your kopi, remember Sharad and Aditi. Be a class act. Spread some love. And to the SIA crew—you all standard always top-tier one, steady pom pi pi!
