Fwah, grab your kopi-c and take a seat, because the Orchard Road bakery scene just went completely wild! People used to go to bakeries just to buy simple butter buns or kosong shio pan, but now there’s a new player in town selling high-class restaurant dishes disguised as bread.
The new place is called Cloudmills, tucked away at 1 Claymore Drive near Yotel. It’s opened by the Cloudfields café team, and guess who they brought in as baking consultant? MasterChef Singapore Season 1 runner-up Genevieve Lee (the one behind Sourbombe)!

Binchotan Charcoal in a Bakery?!
Usually, you go to the kopitiam to see an uncle roast char siew over charcoal. Cloudmills put a whole binchotan (Japanese white charcoal) grill right in the middle of the shop! When you order, they grill your meat on the spot before stuffing it into the bread.
- The Unagi Moon ($7.20): You think shio pan only has butter? This one is a triangular seeded salt bread packed with binchotan-grilled unagi, tamagoyaki (Japanese omelette), a soy-marinated egg yolk, and sprinkled with shichimi pepper. Basically a whole $30 Japanese izakaya meal stuffed inside one bun.
- The Banh Mi ($6.90): Shio pan loaded with fresh charcoal-grilled lemongrass pork belly, chicken liver pâté, pickled veggies, and garlic mayo.
- The Yasai Sausage ($5.90): Grilled sausage with zucchini ribbons and Peruvian-style green chilli sauce.
Sweet Side Got Drama Also
If you have a sweet tooth, they don’t just sell normal donuts. They have pillow-soft nama doughnuts like the Mango Mochi ($6.90), which wraps fresh mango cubes and mascarpone cheese inside chewy mochi skin.
Or if you want to feel super fancy, they even have tapas-inspired savoury doughnuts like the Pan Con Tomate ($6.90) topped with garlic spread and white anchovies, or the Charcuterie Board ($7.20) with prosciutto, Brie cheese, and fig jam!

What Netizens & Early Birds Say on Google Reviews
Since it’s brand new, Singaporeans are already lining up to leave their honest opinions online:
* The Smoked Meat Hypeman (5 Stars): “The smell when you walk in is insane! You can actually taste the smoky binchotan char on the unagi and pork belly. A bit expensive for bread, but where else you get freshly grilled unagi in a salt roll?”
* The No-Seat Complainer (3 Stars): “Bread is legit solid, but seatings are only 10 seats outdoors with camping chairs! Sg weather so hot, eat halfway sweating like crazy. Better take away to eat in airconmall.”
* The Sweet Tooth Fan (5 Stars): “Must try the Mango Mochi donut! Soft, chewy, not too sweet. Genevieve Lee really knows her stuff.”
Prices range from $2.20 to $7.20, so if you’re wandering around Orchard and your stomach starts calling for petrol, go check out whether charcoal-grilled unagi inside salt bread is your kind of thing!
