Wah Sek! Pritam Singh Disbarred: The Legal Tea Is Hotter Than Your Morning Kopi-O!

Wah, kakis, take a seat and grab your Kopi-O Siew Dai because the legal drama today is super spicy!

If you haven’t been keeping up with the news, Workers’ Party big boss Pritam Singh just got his lawyer license completely cancelled—struck off the rolls by the big-shot Court of Three Judges!

That’s right, folks. The man can debate in Parliament, but as of today, he cannot objection, Your Honour! in court anymore.

Wait, How Did We Even Get Here? The Great Raeesah Khan Saga!

For those who were sleeping during the main event, let’s do a quick throwback.

Remember former WP MP Raeesah Khan? She dropped that infamous story in Parliament about accompanying a sexual assault victim to a police station, alleging the police mishandled the case. Turns out, the whole story was pulled out of thin air—she didn’t accompany anyone, and she actually heard the story in a support group!

When the Parliamentary Privileges Committee investigated, the plot thickened like a good bowl of laksa. Pritam was hauled in, and long story short, he ended up getting charged and convicted for lying under oath during those hearings.

Fast forward to today: the Law Society took one look at the conviction, adjusted their glasses, and said:

“Ehh, got dishonesty involved, law say must disbar! No choice, standard operating procedure!”

“Threshold Higher Than ERP Rate at 8:30 AM!”

The funniest part about this whole Supreme Court showdown? Pritam didn’t even bother putting up a fight this time!

Usually, lawyers love to argue—it’s their day job, right? But his defense lawyer basically took one look at the legal precedent required to avoid getting struck off, did a quick mental calculation, and went:

“Yeah, boss… this legal threshold higher than ERP rate at CTE during 8:30 AM peak hour. We accept defeat, bo bian!”

So, no dramatic 3-hour closing arguments, no theatrical objection sprees. They just accepted the disbarment like a champ.

Wallet Direct Hit: Double Damage Combo!

Besides losing his prestige title, Pritam’s wallet took another direct hit. On top of the $14,000 fine he had to cough up earlier for the court conviction, he now has to pay $5,808 in legal costs to the Law Society.

That’s roughly 3,900 cups of kopi, lost just like that! Sigh, heart pain ah…

Cool Like Cucumber: “No Comments, Bye!”

Now, if you or I lost our professional license and almost 20k in fines, we’d probably be crying into our mee pok at the nearest hawker centre. But not Pritam!

When he strolled out of the Supreme Court, he was totally cool like a cucumber stored in a freezer. Surrounded by a sea of eager journalists holding microphoning-swords, he hit them with a world-class, ice-cold:

“No comments.”

Then he just turned around and strolled off like a boss into the sunset. Legend status.

The Final Verdict

So, what’s the damage report?
* Lawyer Title: Gone! ❌
* Wallet: Significantly lighter! 💸
* MP Seat & Political Career: Still safe and kicking! ✅

At the end of the day, his Opposition Leader position is still intact, his MP seat is secure, and he can still roast government policies in the House. Lawyer license may be gone, but the Parliament debates must go on lah!
