Pickleball, Panickers, and Perverts: Why Uncle’s Zoom Skills Belong in the Circus, Not the Court

Grab your kopi-o-kosong, find your favourite spot, and let’s talk about a recent episode of Singaporean CSI: Void Deck Edition.

Picture the scene: It’s a sunny weekend. You’re at the community court living your best sporty life, smashing pickleballs like you’re gunning for an Olympic gold medal. You’re sweating, you’re laughing, you’re feeling athletic.

The last thing you expect? A random uncle treating your backside like National Geographic treats a rare subspecies of hornbill—zooming in at maximum capacity.

Enter Kasey Low, who was just trying to enjoy her weekly pickleball session when her eagle-eyed friends sounded the alarm. “Eh, Kasey, that blur sotong over there looks a bit sus. Why his phone pointing at your backside one?”

Now, if this were a typical Tuesday, the standard script is to diam-diam walk away, act blur, and pretend nothing happened to avoid making a scene. But Kasey woke up and chose absolute violence (the righteous, accountability kind).

She marched right up to the uncle to confront him. And like every textbook blur sotong caught in 4K, the uncle did what any desperate man does: he flat-out lied. “Hanor, huh? Me? Take photo? No lah, where got!”

Bro, your acting skills worse than Mediacorp 9pm drama extras.

Not backing down, Kasey demanded to check the phone gallery. And lo and behold, hiding inside the “Recently Deleted” folder like a digital criminal trying to flee the crime scene was a masterpiece gallery: three whole rows of ultra-zoomed-in shots of her running shorts and backside.

Caught red-handed with digital evidence tighter than a pair of skinny jeans in 2012, the uncle immediately went into panic mode. The excuses came flying faster than a rogue pickleball:

  • “Aiyoh, blur liao!”
  • “Not on purpose one!”
  • “Actually I wanted to film the overall game strategy… you know, the tactical movement of the ball!”

Wah, bro. Since when did a close-up shot of a human glute become part of the official Pickleball Rulebook? Are you studying aerodynamics or just being a total creep? Next time tell us you were analyzing the bounce coefficient of the fabric, see if anyone believes you.

Predictably, once Kasey posted the video online to warn other girls, the internet circus arrived on schedule. You always have those classic keyboard warriors crawling out of the woodwork to say things like, “Aiyo, why you wear running shorts then?”

Bro, please. Women could walk around wrapped head-to-toe in a Michelin Man inflatable foam suit and these kinds of uncles would still find a way to act blur. The problem isn’t the shorts; the problem is the unfiltered audacity living inside the uncle’s brain.

In a later update, Kasey admitted she probably should have skipped deleting the photos herself and just dialed 999 on the spot to let the mata handle the gallery tour. Fair enough—live and learn, right?

So, what’s the lesson for today over our morning brew?

  1. Creeps come in all shapes and sizes, even disguised as innocent uncles pretending to watch sports.
  2. If someone takes photos of you without consent, don’t keep quiet to save face. Save your dignity, raise your voice, and let them be the ones sweating.
  3. If you’re going to be a creep, at least learn how to use a folder cleaner properly. (Or better yet, don’t be a creep at all).

Steady pom pi pi, Kasey. Next time an uncle points a phone at you, just tell him you’re ready to smash a pickleball right between his eyes!
