Then, enter the internet scammers—the ultimate opportunistic chao kuan people—who saw all these desperate fans and decided Christmas came early. Within two short weeks of the announcement, at least five poor souls got chopped like Hainanese chicken, handed over their hard-earned money, and lost a grand total of at least $3,500!

The Classic “PayNow & Bye-Bye” Trick

The scam play-by-play is so classic, it’s almost painful:

• Step 1: Scammers post shiny fake listings on Telegram, Carousell, or Xiaohongshu.
• Step 2: Superfans see it, get super kiasu, and immediately PayNow without thinking.
• Step 3: The moment the money transfers over—poof! The seller disappears into thin air faster than your office colleague on a Friday at 5:00 PM.

No ticket delivered, no refund, only pure heartbreak and a very empty bank account. It got so jia lat that the police mata had to step in and tell Carousell to take down the fake listings, while Facebook Marketplace and TikTok Shop were standing in the corner frantically reminding everyone that ticket-reselling is strictly cannot-one!

You Think BigBang Is Bad? Remember Taylor Swift & Seventeen?

If you think $3,500 is painful, Singaporeans have been getting financially drop-kicked by concert scammers for a long time:

When Taylor Swift came down for her Eras Tour, over $570,000 vanished into thin air. Some fans paid over $1,000 for a PDF printout, turned up at the Sports Hub feeling like a VIP, only to scan the QR code and hear the dreaded BEEP: INVALID TICKET. Devastated fans ended up sitting outside the stadium listening to the reverb through the aircon vents.

And don’t forget the Seventeen and Super Junior shows where scammers pulled the “Double Scam” trick: after taking the money and not sending the ticket, they messaged the buyer saying, “Eh sorry system glitch, I didn’t receive your PayNow, can you transfer again?” AND PEOPLE ACTUALLY TRANSFERRED A SECOND TIME!

How to Avoid Getting Chopped

If you don’t want to become the next headline on The Straits Times, remember these simple Kopitiam Rules:

1. Buy ONLY from official channels: If it’s not Ticketmaster or authorized partners, pretend the listing is haunted.
2. Screenshots mean NOTHING: Anyone with Photoshop or a 5-year-old child’s editing skills can fake a PDF ticket.
3. Ticketmaster tickets CANNOT be resold/transferred: Resellers claiming they can “transfer to your account” are talking cock. If caught, security will turn you away with ZERO refund.

So the moral of the story, my friend? Don’t go and trust random internet strangers promising you VIP tickets out of nowhere. If you simply transfer money like that, in the end your money will bang, your wallet will bang, your heart will bang, but you will still be sitting at home with no BigBang!
